Package patient on the Miller Board
Place Miller Board and patient Into the basket, ensure black waist strap is at waist location.
Always position patient as low as possible in basket.
Connect black waist webbing buckles to the D-Rings on the sides of the mid-point connector and snug. If these buckles are gold, they do not need to be half-hitched. If these buckles are silver, half hitch black webbing behind the roller buckle.
Bring blue webbing up between legs, connect blue webbing buckles to the side D-Rings of the mid-point connect and lightly snug. Ensure the mid-point connector stays centered.
Bring red webbing over head, position chest spacer at nipple line, connect red webbing buckles to the side D-Rings of the mid-point connect and lightly snug. Ensure the mid-point connector stays centered.
Keeping the mid-point connector stays centered, tighten the red and bluewebbing at the same time.
Ensuring at least a 45 degree angle, advance red webbing to the basket and wrap one complete rotation around the strut. Bring red webbing down basket to a strut aligned with the chest spacer, wrap one complete rotation around the strutthen lace through silver D-Rings and finish with two half hitches on each side.
Ensuring at least a 45 degree angle, advance blue webbing to the basket andwrap one complete rotation around the strut. Finish securing patient using the X pattern shown. Finish off blue webbing at the bottom of the basket bywrapping one complete rotation around the strut and finishing up with two half hitches on each side
NOTE: If the patient is positioned low in the basket, the strut connection point will normally align with the chest spacer at the nipple line. The red webbing can then advance to the chest spacer, lace through the D-rings and half hitch off. If the patient is tall or you are using a different basket than is show, the higher basket connection may need to be needed as show above.
Caution must be exercised to avoid airway compromise, never cross webbing close to throat.
Vertical Rescue Operations Option
Lace red webbing back through roller buckles on both sides to insure zero slip.
The system is now complete, attach the victim safety line to the center D-ring of the mid-point connector.
Do not connect safety lines to the chest spacer.
MLFGear recommends a two line 12.5 mm static kernmantle rope system for all high angle basket operations.
